Why I'm starting this blog

I've been thinking of starting a blog for a long time, mostly because everyone is tired of listening to me rant and complain about health care costs and insurance. So now I can complain all I want and you don't have to read. Today I'm just going to tell you a bit about myself. I am a 50 year old high school Librarian. Happily married to a wonderful man. I also have a terrific 23 year old daughter. Luckily my family loves me enough to put up with my medical costs and my fighting with BCBS to get things paid for. I have been type 1, insulin dependent diabetic for 31+ years and have some of the medical issues that come from having this disease for so long. Luckily, I have learned (finally) that this disease can be managed, and complications can be slowed if I spend some time and energy working at it. Unfortunately insurance companies don't have the same view and I have to fight every step of the way to get what I need. In the future I pan to share these stories with you.
